For eloquence depends in the main on the state
of the mind, which must be moved, conceive images
and adapt itself to suit the nature of the subject
which is the theme of speech. Further the loftier
and the more elevated the mind, the more powerful
will be the forces which move it: consequently
praise gives it growth and effort increase, and the
thought that it is doing something great fills it with
joy.
