For there is one especial most important charge concerning corn, and applying to the whole
of Sardinia, about which Triarius questioned all the Sardinians; and that was corroborated by
the agreement and unanimity of evidence of all the witnesses. And before I touch upon that
charge, I beg of you, O judges, to allow me to lay down a few principles to serve, as it were,
for the foundations of our whole defence. And if they are once laid down, and established
according to my intentions and expectations, I shall then fear no part of the prosecution.
