[2] Of Apollo there are three temples and three images. One has no surname; the second they call Pythaeus, and the third Horius （of the Borders）. The name Pythaeus they have learned from the Argives, for Telesilla1 tells us that they were the first Greeks to whose country came Pythaeus, who was a son of Apollo. I cannot say for certain why they call the third Horius, but I conjecture that they won a victory, either in war or by arbitration, in a dispute concerning the borders （horoi） of their land, and for this reason paid honors to Apollo Horius.
