I shall now endeavor to
prove to you from the answers given by the defendant himself, and by Timocrates,
and Aphobus, that it is impossible that the dowry should have been paid. For,
men of the jury, I questioned each of these men in the presence of many
witnesses. I asked Onetor and Timocrates whether any witnesses were present when
they paid the dowry, and Aphobus himself whether any were present when he
received it;
