' The Lacedaemonians and their allies make an alliance with the King and Tissaphernes on the following terms:—
'I. All the territory and all the cities which are in possession of the King, or were in1 possession of his forefathers, shall be the King's2, and whatever revenue or other advantages the Athenians derived from these cities, the King, and the Lacedaemonians and their allies, shall combine to prevent them from receiving such revenue or advantage.
'
[2]
II. The King, and the Lacedaemonians and their allies, shall carry on the war against the Athenians in common, and they shall not make peace with the Athenians unless both parties—the King on the one hand and the Lacedaemonians and their allies on the other—agree.
'III.
[3]
Whosoever revolts from the King shall be the enemy of the Lacedaemonians and their allies, and whosoever revolts from the Lacedaemonians and their allies shall be the enemy of the King in like manner.'
Such were the terms of the alliance.
