Consequently, we
know that Fate is that which is called, not ignorantly,
but scientifically, 'the eternal cause of things, the
wherefore of things past, of things present, and
of things to come.' Hence it is that it may be
known by observation what effect will in most
instances follow any cause, even if it is not known
in all; for it would be too much to say that it is
known in every case. And it is probable that these
causes of coming events are perceived by those
who see them during frenzy or in sleep.
