you were to act in the same way in the case of Marcus Aemilius Scaurus?

Rome.” Well? Did not the Sicilians lay before me every particular of the cause of
Sicily while we were both at Rome? And they were men prudent by nature, cunning by experience,
and learned by education. And still I thought it necessary to go into the province itself; for
the purpose of coming to a right understanding and thorough knowledge of the cause of the
province.
