ὁ μέντοι Μειδίας ἀπορῶν ὅ τι ποιοίη, εἶπεν: ἐγὼ μὲν τοίνυν ἄπειμι, ἔφη, ξένιά σοι παρασκευάσων. ὁ δέ, Οὔ, μὰ Δί᾽, ἔφη, ἐπεὶ αἰσχρὸν ἐμὲ τεθυκότα ξενίζεσθαι ὑπὸ σοῦ, ἀλλὰ μὴ ξενίζειν σέ. μένε οὖν παρ᾽ ἡμῖν: ἐν ᾧ δ᾽ ἂν τὸ δεῖπνον παρασκευάζηται, ἐγὼ καὶ σὺ τὰ δίκαια πρὸς ἀλλήλους καὶ διασκεψώμεθα καὶ ποιήσωμεν.
