For I suppose that no man living will
attribute the prosperity of Athens,
her liberty, her popular government, to anything rather than to the laws. Well,
the question for you today is this: shall all the laws that you have enacted for
the restraint of evil-doers be invalidated, and this law alone be valid; or
shall this law be annulled and the rest allowed to remain? That, to put it in
brief summary, is the issue that you have to determine today.
