My own
opinion, then, is that your policy should be fashioned in such a way that, if
Cersobleptes' views in regard to you are what they should be, he shall not be
unjustly treated by you, but that, if he is so unreasonable as to treat you
unjustly, he may not be too strong to be punished. I will read to you the letter
which Cersobleptes sent at the time of the revolt of Miltocythes, and also that
which, when the whole kingdom was his, he sent to Timomachus before seizing your
outposts.“
