Our wretched mistress could not foretell this pain.
She only saw what grief was coming upon her
from Heracles' new marriage; she acted;
and now, because she has heeded
the words of a stranger in fatal converse,
surely she groans in anguish;
surely soft droplets moisten
her cheeks with numerous tears.
