However, when Caesar came back from Spain, he ignored the charges against Antony, and since in the war he found him energetic, brave, and a capable leader, he made no mistake. Caesar himself, then, after crossing the Ionian sea from Brundisium with a few soldiers,1 sent back his transports with orders to Gabinius and Antony to embark their forces and come with all speed into Macedonia.
