During the same spring the Lacedaemonians led an army against Argos, and advanced as A1 far as Cleonae, but retired in consequence of an earthquake. The Argive in their turn invaded the neighboring district of Thyrea, and took a great deal of spoil from the Lacedaemonians, which was sold for no less than twenty-five talents2.

Somewhat later the populace of Thespiae3 made an attack upon the government, but the attempt did not succeed; for the Thebans came to the rescue. Some of the insurgents were apprehended, others fled to Athens.
