The envoys whom the Mytilenaeans had sent out in their first vessel were told by the
Lacedaemonians1 to come to the Olympic festival, in order that the allies, as well as
themselves, might hear them and determine what should be done.
So they went to Olympia, The Olympiad was that in which the Rhodian Dorieus won his
second victory.

When the festival was over, the allies met in council, and the ambassadors spoke as
follows:—
