Meanwhile news was brought to Demosthenes and the Acarnanians that the whole
remaining1 force of the Ambraciots, who some time previously had been summoned from the
city2 to join the troops in Olpae, were now on their way through the territory of the
Amphilochians and were in entire ignorance of what had occurred.

Whereupon he at once sent forward a part of his army to lie in ambush in
the roads and to occupy the strong places, himself at the same time preparing to support
them with the rest of his forces.
