The Corcyraeans, observing their approach, manned a hundred and ten ships. These,
which1 were placed under the command of Meiciades, Aesimides, and Eurybatus, took up a
position off one of the islands called Sybota;
the ten Athenian ships accompanied them.

The land forces occupied the promontory of Leucimnè, whither a thousand
Zacynthians had come to the aid of Corcyra.

The Corinthians on their part were supported by a large force of barbarians, which
collected on the mainland;
for the inhabitants of this region have always been well disposed towards them.
