The animal frieze, moving left from the handle to the right, depicts a lion facing left, then a grazing goat facing right, a panther-bird facing right with its head turned to look at the viewer, and a lion facing right. Next are confronting seated sphinxes with sickle-shaped wings; in between them is a siren, wearing a cap. The siren walks up the leg of the right-hand sphinx. After these, there is a lion facing left, a grazing stag facing right, a panther facing left, and under the handle a grazing bull facing right.
