Only the interior of the cup is decorated. In the tondo, a Greek hoplite warrior in profile is moving left, wearing a chiton, cuirass, greaves, and a crested Corinthian helmet with cheek pieces raised. He carries a shield with a lion's head device and a spear. Behind and slightly ahead of him is a Scythian warrior who wears a garment with horizontal stripes with a sleeveless chiton or tunic and a Phrygian cap. He carries a spear and a quiver (gorytos). Added purple is used for the pads under the greaves and the lettering. A maeander appears in the border around the tondo. This vase is assigned by Beazley to the earliest phase of Douris' career.
