Obverse Type: Within a dotted circle stands the draped, helmeted, and armed figure of Athena, in 3/4-view to the right, watching Perseus cut off the head of the kneeling Gorgon, Medusa. Perseus, at center, nude except for a cape, lunges in 3/4-view to the right, and turns his head back to the left. He holds his weapon, a sword, in his right hand, and Medusa's head in his left. At right, Medusa, draped, kneels in 3/4-view to the right.
